There are limited spaces available, a deposit of $3,000.00 is required at the time of registration and can be made by credit card. Course registration and reservations are made by calling the Institute of Analytic Interviewing at 925 381-5778. As the class gets closer we will have secure online registration available.
Course Cost
The cost of the course includes all instructional materials, instructor support materials, all meals and lodging.
CA POST Plan IV – Course fee without lodging and meals $2,280.00 – Total cost of course including lodging and meals is $6,000.00.
Prerequisite
Read and report on 1 book by Paul Ekman (either Emotions Revealed or Telling Lies prior to the start of the course. They can be obtained from the Institute of Analytical Interviewing upon registration by calling 925 381-5778 or 209 754-4146.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of the training course, the student will understand the principles of Analytic Interviewing and be able instruct others to:
- Better establish and maintain rapport with others
- Better understand and read another person’s non-verbal communication and identify masked signs of emotion
- Recognize signs of deception
- Best obtain an accurate recall of events from witnesses and victims
- Learn how to better formulate questions and when to ask them
- Most importantly, learn more about themselves

This course will Include the presentation of the base course which focuses on detecting deception in suspects and others by observing both verbal and physical behavior traits. The mastering of this skill provides each investigator with the expertise to be his or her own “Lie Detector”. These techniques were brought together to satisfy the somewhat unique requirements of law enforcement and the intelligence communities. Analytic Interviewing is a combination of techniques, brought together as a system, used to motivate individuals to tell the truth. The students also learn techniques for relating and communicating with others more effective. The course provides various techniques that have proven reliable for use in situations encountered by law enforcement officers, regulatory inspectors, and intelligence agents. Cognitive Interviewing techniques will be taught by Dr. Geiselman or Dr. Fisher providing the students with the most effective memory enhancing methodology and how to teach it. The students will be require to present a portion of the course at the end of the program. Laptops are optional, but highly recommended.
